LED streetlights on the island

With strong support of South Korean government, Samsung and LG have shown aggressive attempt to become world leader in the LED lighting industry. Samsung has equipped itself with integrated LED manufacturing capability involving epi-wafer and package manufacturing. The order came in the third quarter of 2011, initially for the CRIUS II-L version, and was immediately converted into Aixtron′s brand new XL-configuration right after its launch. Delivery of the new reactor will take place in the fourth quarter of 2011.The CRIUS II-XL reactor has been acquired for the volume production of InGaN-based high-brightness (HB) blue LED epiwafer materials. One of Aixtron′s local support teams will install and commission the new reactor in the company’s state-of-the-art production complex in Taiwan.

Recently, part of Taiwan's economic stimulus package announced to install 320,000 LED streetlights on the island, as one of a series of measures introduced by vice premier Sean Chen to boost high-tech industry.Currently, LED Lighting already became the pioneer trend and "ECO" marked products in global lighting market. Hong Kong government started to advocate LED lighting few years ago.EVERLIGHT offers multiple discounts in order to provide Hong Kong consumers not only ECO, but also better performance LED lighting products which are made from Taiwan.Recently,Everlight has taken an active action on fighting a lawsuit against Nichia in Tokyo District Court and said it will unfold the legal action by bringing the patent suits to other countries to counter Nichia’s repeated accusations that Everlight infringes on its patents.

In the lawsuit, Everlight asked the district court to stop Nichia from spreading the allegation and appealed for damage claims. Everlight has become the first Taiwanese LED maker to take legal action against Nichia over patent issue.Everlight’s confidence comes from winning the case brought by Nichia each before Taiwan’s Supreme Administrative Court, Taiwan’s Supreme Court and Intellectual Property Court against it over a disputable patent coded No. 089,036 patent.All these courts ruled that the patent is invalid and the intellectual property court even ruled that Taiwan’s Intellectual Property Office should revoke the patent certification it issued to Nichia.Apart from complaining in the Japanese court, Everlight was releasing a news statement charging that Nichia is abusing lawsuits to interrupt fair competition on free market to its own advantage.
